A message of hope and inspiration for the hurting

Cupcakes

I personally find it funny and interesting where the idea and inspiration for this post came from. It came in the form of a children’s messge time given by my sister-in-law at the church my brother pastors. She used some of the ingredients of cupcakes (oil, flour, egg) and talked about how these things individually would not be good to eat. However, if  you mix them with some other good things (butter and sugar), then cook them the right way, you get something that is really good – cupcakes!

So that was the basics of her lesson. So what in the world kind of inspiration do you think I got from that? Well, it’s pretty straightforward and simple, actually. As she did, let us use cupcakes as an analogy for our lives. Each one has experienced times in our lives that individually were difficult and uncomfortable. In food and taste terms, they were unsavory. Yet, we have also had times of success and happiness,  or sweet times. Personality,  I believe that we need both these unsavory times in our lives. Many, if not all of these situations, we would have preferred not to have experienced. However, it is these difficult and trying times that have made us stronger, wiser, more confident , and helped to  develop our character. While, on the other hand, it is these sweet times of joy, accomplishment, and genuine happiness that kept us going and helped us get through those difficult times. When all of these experiences are considered as a whole, the result is character, personality, and view of the world that makes each of us who we are.
So, sweet or unsavory each and everything we have experienced is just another ingredient in who we are and should never be regretted.

So next time you eat or even see a cupcake, I hope you will be reminded of this lesson.
