Heart of Hope

A message of hope and inspiration for the hurting

Do you Hear What I Hear?

Many believe that the times of the Lord speaking to His children has long passed; however, I definitely do NOT count myself as one of them.  I firmly believe that He still speaks to those who are willing to slow down, turn off the sounds of this world and listen.

As it is written, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever.” Hebrews‬ 13:8.

In Mark Jesus himself said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:9. Then in Revelations, which we know is written for the end times, He said, “The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation‬s 2:29. To me that makes it pretty clear and straightforward, it is not only possible for us to hear His voice He calls for us to do so.

While He can choose to use circumstances to get our attention like the wind, earthquake and fire, but in most occasions He does not, He speaks to us in whispers. That is why if we want to hear him, we must attune our ears to hear his voice, and as  I said before we must tune out all the other voices and noise of this world. I assure He IS speaking if we will only hear and listen.

Finally, as we see in the story of Samuel, He doesn’t even always wait for us to be listening.  Sometimes, He simply calls us seemingly out of the blue when we are least expecting it. I urge you my friends to not be like Samuel and not recognize His voice when he calls. Rather let us be so accustomed to hearing and listening to it that we simply respond, “Speak Lord your servant is listening.”

Do you hear what I hear? He is calling, seeking a people who will hear his voice, listen to His words and follow His commands. He has a message for this dying and hurting world. Will you hear Him and be His messenger?

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever.

Mark‬ ‭4:9‬

And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2:29‬

The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭3:2‭-‬10‬

[2] But it happened at that time as Eli was lying down in his place (now his eyesight had begun to be poor and he could not see well), [3] and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord where the ark of God was, [4] that the Lord called Samuel; and he said, “Here I am.” [5] Then he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. [6] And the Lord called yet again, “Samuel!” So Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son, go back and lie down.” [7] Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor had the word of the Lord yet been revealed to him. [8] So the Lord called Samuel again for the third time. And he got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. [9] And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
